Trish Ochsenham is the founder and Director of Burnside Speech Pathology. She qualified as a Speech Therapist and teacher, in New Zealand. She moved to Adelaide with her family in 1980, and completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) in 1989 at Flinders University after raising 3 children. She has worked in educational settings, behavioural support programs and a hospital environment over the 30+ years of her career. She has extensive experience working with children with speech and language difficulties and with children with autism and global developmental delay. Trish has continued to further her knowledge through training in the Hanen Parent Education Programs “It Takes Two to Talk” and “More Than Words” and becoming an Autism Diagnositician in 2007. Her passion is making a difference to parents and families of children with complex speech and language delays and with children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is a current certified practising member of Speech Pathology Australia. She has two beautiful granddaughters who insist that she keeps up to date with the latest technology and the interests of today’s children. She has a keen interest in mentoring Speech Pathology students and newly graduated Speech Pathologists.
Kate King is a a very welcome member of the team at Burnside Speech Pathology. She is a Speech Pathologist with extensive experience in early childhood communication and feeding difficulties. She is also very experienced in working with children with tracheostomy, and craniofacial difficulties. She is committed to working in a partnership with parents and children and actively works with parents towards up-skilling them so they can in turn support their children. Kate ensures children attending therapy have fun while they play and learn speech, language, feeding and social skills.
Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology from Flinders University in 1992. She commenced the first 3 years of her career as a Speech Pathologist in a rural Community Health Service. Since 1995, Kate has worked within a paediatric hospital environment in Adelaide. She is passionate about making a difference for infants and young children with complex developmental or medical conditions, and appreciates the team relationships she has developed. Over the years, Kate has developed skills in providing Speech Pathology assessment and intervention services for children with developmental delay, acquired neurological conditions, hearing impairments and craniofacial conditions, and has particular expertise in paediatric feeding and swallowing difficulties. Kate was thrilled to join Burnside Speech Pathology in 2013, and bring her skills to the families within this practise.
Kate has two young boys of her own, and enjoys a busy life with them at school. She is loved by the children and the families she comes in contact with, as she is dedicated to providing an excellent service these families.
Katelin Dix was welcomed into the team at Burnside Speech Pathology in 2014. She graduated from Flinders University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology, and has a very strong interest in working with young children with speech and language difficulties, autism and she has a special interest in helping children with stuttering difficulties. She works closely with Trish Ochsenham to further her knowledge of speech pathology, and engages regularly in Professional Development programs to ensure her knowledge of speech and language and stuttering continues to grow.
